BACKGROUND
Children’s Institute Inc. (CII) supports children and families through early education and youth programs, counseling services, parenting support, workforce and community leadership development and advocacy and has worked with GHJ for over 10 years.
GHJ'S APPROACH
GHJ's aims to be a one-stop solution by proactively identifying and addressing needs beyond audit work to support CII's growth and success. GHJ’s Nonprofit Practice has served as trusted advisors and provided operational support through leadership changes, training and general business advice.
While GHJ primarily provides audit services for CII, throughout the many years of working together, this partnership has evolved. CII consults GHJ beyond their audit services trusting the firm to address additional needs as they arise.
GHJ’s Nonprofit Tax Practice assisted CII when it expanded to hire employees outside of California. The team has also provided guidance on a variety of tax-related topics, including alternative investments, unrelated business income and commercial co-ventures.
In 2018, GHJ’s Growth Planning and Strategic Advisory Practice evaluated CII's internal processes and succession planning to lay the groundwork for future success.
