I help clients comply with tax laws and regulations to avoid penalties and optimize tax efficiency. I also guide clients through decision-making processes while considering risk issues.

What makes you get up in the morning, and how does it impact your work style?
The possibility to be better than yesterday and to impact people’s lives through my work.
What is your proudest professional moment, and why?
There have been several moments, and they have all been special in their own way. The latest moment was a tax credit discovered for a new client that resulted in a large sum of money credited to the client’s tax liability. The client was happy, and we were too!
Ruben Rodriguez, CPA, has over 15 years of public accounting experience providing tax services to clients. He helps clients achieve their goals and navigate business challenges through strategic tax planning.
Prior to joining GHJ in 2024, Ruben led the Private Client Services Line for a top-20 accounting firm. He also has extensive experience working with international high-net-worth clients.
Ruben was named a Rising Star by the Texas Society of CPAs in 2016 and previously served as Treasurer and Board Member for the Association of Latino Professionals and Hispanic Alliance for Career Advancement.
Additionally, Ruben is a member of the International Tax Forum Houston, Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants and American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
Ruben graduated from the University of Texas – Pan American where he received a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Accounting and a Master of Accountancy degree.
In his free time, Ruben enjoys meditating, exercising and traveling. He has also volunteered his time at the Houston Food Bank and Children’s Museum of Houston.
