Jim Rizzo, CPA, has over 30 years of tax experience and is based out of GHJ’s New York Office. He has extensive experience with corporate income taxes and ASC 740 and collaborates closely with clients to develop tailored tax strategies that align with their business goals, reduce tax liabilities and navigate complex regulatory environments.

Jim's proactive approach and deep industry knowledge empower his clients to make informed decisions that drive their financial success.

Prior to joining GHJ in 2024, Jim worked for the National Fuel Gas Distribution Corporation for more than a decade, where he served as Vice President of Tax.

Jim is a member of the New York Society of Certified Public Accountants’ Buffalo Chapter, where he previously served as Vice President, Treasurer, Taxation Committee Chair and Annual Tax Institute Chair. He was also a member of the Tax Executives Institute where he previously served as President, Vice President, Treasurer and Buffalo-Niagara Chapter Representative and is a Past Chair and Vice Chair of the American Gas Association Taxation Advisory Council.

Additionally, he has been a featured speaker at the University at Buffalo School of Management and New York Society of Certified Public Accountants’ Annual Tax Institute and a featured panelist at the American Gas Association’s Taxation Committee meetings.

Jim graduated from State University of New York (SUNY) at Buffalo where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with a Concentration in Accounting as well as a Graduate Tax Certificate. He is currently a member of the SUNY at Buffalo Accounting Advisory Council.

Outside of work, Jim enjoys golfing, gardening and walking his dog.
