I've missed more than 9,000 shots in my career. I've lost almost 300 games. 26 times, I've been trusted to take the game-winning shot and missed. I've failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed. — Michael Jordan.
Describe the best thing about GHJ and why it matters to you.
The best thing about GHJ is definitely the people I get the opportunity to work with on a day-to-day basis. Hands down the finest group of people I’ve ever worked with.
What makes you get up in the morning, and how does it impact your work style?
My family is my primary motivation, and the opportunity the firm provides me to work in a hybrid environment is tremendous. It gives me the ability to meet my professional responsibilities without missing out on any important moments in my children’s lives.
What is your proudest professional moment, and why?
I would have to say my proudest moment was early in my CPA career when my primary client found out I was moving and would be leaving the client engagement team. The Director of Financial Reporting and Controller for the client pulled me aside to tell me how much they appreciated my efforts and attitude in working with them for over a year. This experience really taught me how much I enjoy working in the client service industry.
What is your favorite quote that best describes your professional philosophy?
'I've missed more than 9,000 shots in my career. I've lost almost 300 games. 26 times, I've been trusted to take the game-winning shot and missed. I've failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed.' — Michael Jordan. I am a big believer that failure is the best teacher, and it should be embraced, not feared.
